2	Thematic Focus (16 credits) Example thematic focus clusters include but are not limited to: Film Studies, Visual Cultures, Asian Literatures, Art History, Religion and Culture, Gender and Sexuality, Imperialism/Nationalism/Transnationalism, and South-East Asia/Pacific Islands/South Asia
3	Discipline/Theory (8 credits) May be taken from any department with or without an Asian focus

4	Regional Focus (12 credits) Literature, History, Art History (as appropriate)
5	Regional Breadth (8 credits) At least two courses from the above four categories must be in regional areas outside a student’s primary focus (the AS seminar counts as one of these)

6	Language Requirement – 2 Years Must be related to the chosen civilization or region. Students may demonstrate an equivalent competence by exam or work in advanced language courses
