How the Office of Academic Advising Can Help YouThe Office of Academic Advising (OAA) supports students transferring to the University of Oregon. Students benefit from our many programs and services including: advising assistance for students with undeclared and declared majors (undeclared advising), clarification of General Education requirements, help with registration and academic problems, and petitioning procedures. For New Undergraduate Transfer StudentsThe Office of Academic Advising coordinates one-day mid-year orientations for students admitted for Winter, Summer, or Fall terms. The Office of Student Orientation Programs coordinates one-to-two-day programs for students admitted for Fall Term, IntroDUCKtion in July and Week of Welcome in September. Transfer students admitted for Fall term are encouraged to attend the mid-year orientation in May coordinated by the OAA. Students must complete admission application materials by the March deadline and be formally admitted by the April deadline in order to participate in the May orientation. Students unable to attend the May program may come to IntroDUCKtion or Week of Welcome instead. Transfer SeminarsTransfer Seminars are exclusively for students transferring to the UO from other colleges and universities. There are transfer seminars for students with major or pre-major status in business, journalism, psychology and sociology, as well as a seminar for those interested in middle and secondary teaching. There is also a cross disciplinary seminar open to all transfer students, regardless of major. The seminars also provide students with an upper-class transfer student Teaching Assistant to help address the unique needs of transfer students and their transition to life at the UO.
