The Arts and Administration Student Forum (AADSF) is a student initiated organization whose function is to promote a constructive dialogue among students, faculty, staff and professionals, and to identify opportunities for collaborative relationships with other student organizations and UO departments. With the support of the faculty and staff, the AADSF promotes program excellence and maintains the professional relevancy of AAD.
In nearly five and a half years, the AADSF has produced four lecture series, worked collaboratively with the Campus Arts Faire, Oregon Asian Celebration, Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Students (LGBTA) group, and the UO Cultural Forum. With the Art Law Forum at the UO Law School, AADSF also co-sponsored Outside the Lines: Creativity, Community, and the Law, a symposium exploring the nexus between art and law in November 2001. In 2003, AADSF co-sponsored A Secret History of Eugene, an articipatory, on-line storytelling project. Lecture topics have included: Corporate Sponsorship; the Web and ECommerce; Current Topics in Museum Education; Cyberlaw and the Arts; Issues of Responsibility for Non-profit Board Members, the Changing Role of the Arts Administrator, the Cutting Edge of Art, Legal Issues in the Arts, Privatizing Cultural Policy and Microsoft Access for Non-profits.
A valuable resource provided by the AADSF is the Student Resource Committee which facilitates mentor type relationships between first and second year students and helps new students become acquainted with AAD, UO, and the Eugene community.
