All viewers shall have a right to privacy

The African Americans and Japanese Society (AA&JS) respects your right to privacy. We understand that our Complimentary AA&JS Members need to be in control of their personal information. We also strive to present information on the AA&JS homepages and e-mail announcements that are tailored to the needs of our Complimentary AA&JS Members, an international viewing audience. It is for this reason that we ask you to register for Membership and to provide your complete and personal information at AA&JS Surveys, AA&JS Questionnaires and AA&JS Membership pages.

We may also ask you for personal information when you: visit particular sites on our AA&JS homepage; enter a contest; download freeware/shareware language programs (a feature not currently available); subscribe to the AA&JS quarterly newsletter, or; subscribe to the AA&JS Monitor (a Members-only Postboard). We will use the personal information that you provide for us to:
  • ensure that the Web contents, Web links, AA&JS-supported advertising (a feature not currently available), and the Complimentary virtual services that we provide on AA&JS (and related sites) are tailored to your current and future needs.
  • alert you to special announcements, surveys, updated AA&JS pages, and additional AA&JS features.
  • give you first notice of AA&JS opportunities as we continue to grow in size and beyond virtual reality.
If you choose not to register with AA&JS, or if you provide inaccurate or incomplete personal information, you may still visit many AA&JS pages on the Web. However, you will not have full access to the AA&JS pages or AA&JS Member benefits that require your accurate and complete personal identification. If we find that you have provided AA&JS with false or inaccurate personal identification, your Complimentary AA&JS Membership and your Membership benefits will be denied or revoked.

  About Special AA&JS Announcements

All e-mails addressed to and forwarded by the AA&JS are subject to having the Member's personal contact information edited out for the purpose of monitoring the progress of the e-mail dialogues and for confidentiality.

Occasionally, the African Americans and Japanese Society (AA&JS) will forward edited versions of its Members' e-mail messages and announcements, upon special request, to its AA&JS Complimentary Members. This service is designed to allow Members the chance to respond by e-mail to the forwarded e-mail message or announcement topic.
All e-mails addressed to and forwarded by the AA&JS are subject to having the personal contact information edited out by the AA&JS for the purpose of enabling AA&JS to monitor the progress of the e-mail dialogues and to supervise confidentiality.

Since AA&JS attempts to act as editor and moderator of its Members' special e-mail messages and announcements, it is the AA&JS that receives all e-mails and e-mail replies, and then it is also the AA&JS that forwards the e-mails and e-mail replies to each intended participants of the dialogue in progress.
Because of issues that relate to user confidentiality and for the purpose of monitoring the e-mail discussion between AA&JS Members (regarding the topics forwarded in the occasional e-mail messages and announcements), editorial measures are taken so that nearly all of each member's personal contact information is omitted from the message.

Confidentiality is important because in some cases, the authenticity behind every participant's on-line identity or circumstances cannot be guaranteed. The AA&JS Complimentary Member who sends AA&JS e-mail messages and announcements for special broadcast purposes hereby agrees to accept the terms explained in the above section.

Any participation in the aforementioned service by you, the AA&JS Complimentary Member, hereby enters into a mutual agreement that reads as follows: the AA&JS reserves the right to edit all e-mails and to edit-out any and all personal contact information for the purpose of monitoring and confidentiality.

How will AA&JS protect your personal information?

AA&JS will protect the personal information that you provide. Your information will not be used for marketing purposes. No AA&JS Staff or Complimentary AA&JS Member or third-party affiliates will ever request monetary payments from you on-line or otherwise. In the event such activity does occur (on-line or otherwise), please report the activity at once to the AA&JS Founder (see e-mail and contact information below).

When we do request current demographic information, we will not share any of your personal information with any third party without your prior consent. We may however offer non-personal aggregate information to third-parties that will in no way jeopardize your right to privacy.

All AA&JS Members will receive special AA&JS announcements via e-mail. On occasion, AA&JS Staff may also send you personal e-mail messages unless you have otherwise specified that you do not want such e-mail sent to you. If you do not want to receive personalized e-mail messages from AA&JS Staff, you may indicate so by clicking the "No" circle at the time you initially submit your personal membership application to AA&JS. If you later change your mind, you may contact us by e-mail at any time or resubmit your corrected application data. Your most recent AA&JS membership application will supersede earlier applications in the event you need to make changes in data. You will receive a confirmation letter via e-mail as is necessary.

AA&JS may occasionally present a special contest or promotion or an AA&JS on-line event that may or may not be sponsored by another company. To qualify for entry, we may request you to provide personal information. If we plan to share that information with the sponsor(s), we will provide a statement to that effect at the time or our request.

How to cancel your Complimentary AA&JS Membership?

Many other Web sites do not openly offer their viewers the easy option of canceling membership. However so, at AA&JS, we realize that the lives of our diverse AA&JS Members are always changing and that they may choose to no longer benefit from an AA&JS membership. With ease, we allow you to cancel your Complimentary AA&JS Membership when you simply e-mail the AA&JS Membership Administrator (click here) and include the following request to "CANCEL AA&JS MEMBERSHIP." We will remove your personal information from all AA&JS e-mailing lists and terminate all AA&JS services and benefits for you after receiving your e-mail request.

How to update your personal Complimentary Membership Data?

You can help AA&JS maintain the accuracy of your personal information by notifying us when you change your address, title, phone number, or e-mail address. If at any time you wish to update your information or stop receiving communication generated by AA&JS or from AA&JS Staff, please send your e-mail to the AA&JS Membership Administrator (click here).
