 FIRST FEATURE

Jonathan Reed, M.A., teaches about the intercultural relations that are currently created between African Americans and Japanese persons within the context of the international business arena. Contrary to popular belief, successful relationships within the business arena do occur between Japanese people and African American people. Read the following text for what the author has shared with public minds.

Educating one's self about the cultural differences and similarities of another's culture and history and people has proven to be one small way of overcoming some biases and negative prejudices. In fact, there is an increasing number of successful African American and Japanese businesspersons who have indicated that their degree of success has stemmed from their search for such intercultural relationships and educational opportunities. Therefore, it is clear that these relationships between African Americans and Japanese are indeed mutually beneficial to their business transactions and work environment. Moreover, these businesspersons have established a comradary within a profession that popular media has denied ever existed. Japanese people may not meet many Black people in their neighborhoods, but they do at the work front; and it appears that they like it.
