Just two hours away from the University of Oregon’s main campus in Eugene is the UO Portland Center. Located in the heart of downtown, the center houses the Portland master of architecture degree program that provides an opportunity for students to study architecture and urban design in one of North America’s most engaging and attractive urban centers. Area residents benefit from the programs available through Continuing Education, and the UO law school conducts summer classes at the center and supports Portland-area law conferences and externships, student job placement, and Appropriate Dispute Resolution Program activities. The University of Oregon serves campuses in the lush Willamette Valley, in the big city of Portland, and in the foothills of central Oregon’s Cascade Mountains. The UO is one of seven partner institutions offering undergraduate degrees through the Oregon State University-Cascades Campus in Bend. The Pine Mountain Observatory is located twenty-six miles southeast of Bend, Oregon, at an elevation of 6,500 feet. Pine Mountain houses telescopes with apertures of 15, 24, and 32 inches. The 32-inch telescope is one of the largest in the world that offers regular public access. The facility is operated by the UO Department of Physics and is used by UO physics students and faculty members to conduct research. Located in Charleston, Oregon, the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) provides UO students and faculty members with access to a 100-acre research station, surrounded by one of the richest marine habitats on the Pacific coast. “Classrooms” at OIMB are the rocky shores, wind-swept bays, salt marshes, and wide-open seas. AHA International is a Portland-based organization that has delivered study-abroad programs to college students around the United States since 1957. AHA became an academic program of the UO in 2003. Fifteen study-abroad sites located in Africa, Europe, South America, and Central America are available to students across the United States through AHA. In addition to the programs available through AHA, the Office of International Affairs sponsors more than eight overseas programs in more than fifty countries worldwide. Explore the world at the UO.
