Militant Islam I: Foundations in Faith
For Undergraduate credit: The first (more historical) part of this 2-segment weekend course meets on Saturday June 21 [7 hours] and Sunday June 22 [3 hours]. You are to enroll in this course for two credits (INTL 399/CRN 41088 and the associated INTL 405/CRN 41096). To earn these two credits, attend class both days, participate in in-class discussions, in Sunday’s in-class group activity, and expand on Sunday’s activity into a 4-5 page essay due in 307 PLC (please slide under my door if I’m not there) no later than noon on Thursday June 26th.
Grading breakdown: Sunday in-class presentation 30%, participation 30%, essay 40%
For three or four credits: Complete the 1-credit course, register for a different supplementary INTL 405 (CRN 41093), and write a longer paper. The length and time due will be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.
Militant Islam II: Manifestations Today
The second (more contemporary) part of this weekend course meets on Saturday June 28 [7 hours] and Sunday June 29 [3 hours]. You are to enroll in this course for two credits (INTL 399/CRN 41089 and the associated INTL 405/CRN 41097). To earn these two credits, attend class both days, participate in in-class discussions, in Sunday’s in-class group activity, and expand on Sunday’s activity into a 4-5 page essay due in 307 PLC (please slide under my door if I’m not there) no later than noon on Thursday July 3rd.
Grading breakdown: Sunday in-class presentation 30%, participation 30%, essay 40%
For three or four credits: In addition to the above requirements for two credits, students should enroll in INTL 405/40998 for additional credits with prior approval from Professor Weiss. Requirements will be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.
To enroll in the INTL 405, please come to the International Studies Office (175 PLC) and complete a form for the Individualized Reading, and then you will be able to enroll in it.
For Graduate credit: To receive graduate credit for either part of this course, you enroll in INTL 605 (Individualized Reading, CRN 41116). To enroll in more than two credits, please consult with Professor Weiss first.
To enroll in the INTL 605, please come to the International Studies Office (175 PLC) and complete a form for the Individualized Reading, and then you will be able to enroll in it.
