This returning, highly popular program encourages families to visit the museum during four Saturdays a year for free! Children and their guardians are invited to get creative together and participate in fun-filled art activities at the museum.

Free Family Day: Art Olympics

Saturday, August 9, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Engage in a series of art activities which focus on the Greek Olympics, product design, and movement in art. Activities will include designing your own Olympic medal for the summer 2008 Olympics, creating a unique running shoe, designing a Greek vase with motifs and athletes, as well as making a custom designed track suit for the event. Family focused tours the exhibition will be led by the museum's trained volunteers.  Powerbars and sports drinks provided for all art athletes. Free.

 

 

 

 

 

Free Family Day: Noche Buena

Saturday, December 13, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This family day will focus on both contemporary and traditional arts from Cuba and Latin America.  Participants will explore materials used by the contemporary artists in the exhibition and learn how these artists use their art to express ideas.  Come celebrate the holidays with food, music and art from Cuba!  

 

Interactive Discovery Gallery (IDG)

The Interactive Discovery Galley (IDG) at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art gives children and parents an opportunity to discover the world of art together. Play in the life-size replica of Lichtenstein’s Interiors Series: Modern Room, create your own artwork using the styles that made Lichtenstein famous or create a comic book scene on the magnetic wall in the gallery.
