Conference Events

Opening Reception

We will hold an opening reception on the evening of Thursday, September 29th, at the home of Professor Mark Johnson of the UO Philosophy Department. Dr. Johnson lives at 84651 Murdock Road (out among the big trees!). We will provide maps for those who may wish to drive and shuttles for those preferring to ride.

Business Lunches

Although the Circle traditionally holds one business lunch on Saturday of the annual meeting, this year's business has made it necessary to schedule two official lunches, on Thursday and Saturday (please see the note from the Acting General Secretary). Both lunches will be held in the Gerlinger Alumni Lounge. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, but advance registration and payment is required. The cost for each lunch is $15. Each lunch will be buffet style, with two entrée options, one of which will be vegetarian.

Conference Banquet

The Conference Banquet will also be held in the Gerlinger Alumni Lounge, in Gerlinger Hall. Advance registration and payment is required. The cost is $35. The banquet will be buffet style, and the entrées will be Prime Rib, Salmon with Lemon Butter, and Stuffed Portabello Mushrooms.

Sunday Hike: Spencer's Butte

On Sunday, October 2nd, Janet Fiskio (doctoral student in Environmental Science, Studies, and Policy) will lead a hike to the top of Spencer's Butte, the highest point in Eugene at 2054 feet, with 360˚ views of the Willamette Valley. The group will leave the hotel by shuttle at 10 am and return around noon. The cost of the trip is $5, which will include a brunch snack. Since space for this trip is limited, early registration is recommended. Be prepared for rain, and be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
