Elizabeth Wartluft-Murphy describes the course:

The Balkans and East Europe class is a folk dance class at a beginning level (no experience needed, but often there is a mix of beginners and intermediates). We will learn dances from the Balkans (former rep. of Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece & maybe Turkey) as well as dances from Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

We will do mostly easy village dances (circles, lines, couples, some solo dances perhaps), with a few favorite intermediate dances that the local folk dance community does. We will do a mix of different rhythms as well as kinds of dances (2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8, etc.!). By the end of the course, students will know 15-20 dances, most of which can be danced here in Eugene at local folk dancing.

This would be a great class to take in combination with the Music of the Balkans class or Balkan Folklore and Society: experience with your body what you are studying while sitting down!
