Call for Articles

An Invitation to write for The Acquisitions Librarian

As a guest editor for an upcoming issue of The Acquisition Librarian, I would like to invite you to submit an article for publication.  The theme of this issue is "Financial and Operations Management for Library Acquisitions."  I hope to explore a broad range of business issues including budgeting, structuring the work, evaluating organizational performance, and emerging trends and technologies.   My goal is to provide basic information for new and early career acquisitions librarians as well as stimulating the thinking of more experienced colleagues.

Theoretical articles, research reports, and “how-to” articles will be considered.  Articles may be written by individuals or co-authored and should be roughly 8-20 pages in length.  As usual, this will be published as a monograph in addition to being a topical issue of the periodical.

Suggested topics

Here are some possible topics for articles.  You are welcome (and encouraged) to go beyond this list while keeping with the overall theme.

Timetable

Submit a brief proposal to me by August 15, 2003.    This should include the name and institutional affiliations of the author(s); the author(s)’ background relative to the topic; a working title; and a brief abstract.

Completed articles will be accepted any time after August 15 up until the deadline of November 15, 2003.

I will begin the editing process as soon as I start receiving articles.   I have a deadline of next February but will wrap this up more quickly if I can.  The date of publication will depend on when I finish editing and where we end up in the publication queue.

Thank you in advance for your help with this project,
