Treasurer's Report, Nigel Nicholson, Reed College. CAPN finances were
left in fine shape by Mary Jaeger (University of Oregon); many thanks
to her for her lengthy tenure as treasurer. The savings account
presently stands at $1,882.61, with the checking account at $629.04.
Various expenditures need to be deducted from these impressive totals,
however. First, on the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee, and
with the approval of the Executive Committee, CAPN will be supporting 4
students from Boise St with awards of $200 to help them travel to
Italy, Greece and Turkey to study with Prof. Odahl of Boise State. The
university has had great success in generating classics teachers
through its programs. Second, the Executive Committee voted to return
to a twice-yearly mailing to members. This mailing will be more
economically produced than in the past, so that it is hoped that CAPN's
finances will continue to be healthy despite this new and recurrent
outlay.
