Field Camp Miscellaneous
Medical Preparation
* For your own protection we recommend that you take
shots for tetanus.
* Consult your physician concerning advisability of
typhoid immunization.
* You should have and carry your own medical insurance.
* If you have any physical problems, get a check-up
before the course.
--> You will be hiking in rugged terrain under the
hot sun for 6-8 hours each day, so you should be in good physical
condition.
AND... bring a small first-aid kit. --or at least
some band-aids you can put in your pack for those minor scrapes and
cuts.
....
Required personal and field equipment
The Department of Geological Sciences will supply
Brunton
compasses and other necessary major items of equipment, but you must be
fully equiped with essential, light, camping gear and the field
equipment
listed below. All equipment and clothing must fit into a back-pack or
duffle
bag because we shall have no space for suitcases and other containers.
You can save on equipment if you make arrangements to share a tent with
another student. In order to coordinate our daily travel to and from
the
field,
a wristwatch is an absolute necessity.
