undergraduate studies

Dear prospective student,

Thank you very much for your inquiry about education in Landscape Architecture at the University of Oregon. I am pleased to provide you with this information and encourage you to inquire further after you have looked over this material, more of which can be found at the following link.

The Department of Landscape Architecture is over fifty years old and is accredited by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board. At the present time, there are approximately 140 students in the department. There are nine full time and one half-time faculty, a changing pool of adjunct and visiting faculty, and one full-time staff person.

The core of the curriculum for both the B.L.A. and the M.L.A. is the Planning and Design Program, which consists of a series of studio courses focusing on the development of responses and solutions to landscape problems and opportunities. The Department places a high priority on the making of places which are supportive of human needs, beautiful in their conceptual ideals and responsive to their ecological potential.
