undergraduate
The Department admits undergraduate students as first year students, second year transfers, or advanced transfers. If you are already a student at the University of Oregon, you need to complete a change of major form. There are two parts to the undergraduate admissions process.

PART ONE:
Apply for admission to the University of Oregon, indicating Landscape Architecture as your desired major. First year students and Transfer students interested in the undergraduate program should apply to the university by January 15. UO admissions will send you a departmental application upon receipt of your completed UO application and payment of fee. You may link to the UO admissions office to request an application by mail, download an application in PDF format, or apply online by clicking here.

PART TWO:
Submit required application material to the Department of Landscape Architecture. All materials listed below are due in the department office by February 15.

  1. A Landscape Architecture undergraduate application form.
  2. A personal letter indicating why you want to study Landscape Architecture and particularly why you want to study at the University of Oregon.
  3. A portfolio of your creative work. (Formatted in an 8 1/2 x 11" notebook)
  4. Three letters of recommendation.
  5. Transcript(s) of previous academic credit. (Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for department use)

In the letter, please tell us as much about yourself as possible - your background, your interests and aspirations in the field of landscape architecture, and anything else which you believe will aid us in making an intelligent decision regarding your admission. The examples of your work should indicate your creativity. Please include those graphic and written materials which will help us evaluate your potential to succeed and flourish within our school. You may include copies of photographs, drawings, a story, an article, poetry, projects of any kind, or a combination of all of these. Put your work together as thoughtfully as possible. An 8 1/2 x 11" notebook works very well for displaying your work. Be sure to enclose a self-addressed envelope and sufficient postage to ensure the return of your portfolio. Letters of acceptance or denial will be sent out on or about April 15.

ADVANCED TRANSFERS: Please follow the above procedure. Advanced placement will be based upon demonstrated ability and previous accomplishment; including academic and work experience. Students applying for advanced transfer standing will usually have completed at least two years of Landscape Architecture at another institution. If you have a previous baccalaureate degree, you must apply to our graduate program.

graduate

You may apply for admission to the Graduate Program for Summer entry (First Professional MLA) or Fall entry (Post-Professional MLA) after October 1.
