Building Effective Schools Together (BEST I & II)
Developed by researchers at the IVDB, BEST is a standardized curriculum for school discipline teams, aimed at improving discipline in schools and classrooms. BEST trainings create the opportunity for extended staff development and coaching in positive school discipline and behavioral supports. Currently, BEST trainings have been implemented in more than 100 schools each in Oregon and California. There are replication sites in Mississippi, British Columbia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Hawaii, and Illinois.
BEST I teaches teams of school staff to plan, develop and implement Effective Behavior Support (EBS) (Sugai and Horner, 1994, Sprague, Sugai and Walker, 1997), a school-wide discipline program that teaches and encourages appropriate student behavior.
BEST I addresses school-wide, non-classroom, classroom and individual student interventions and the program includes content related to school-wide discipline, classroom management, and individual student supports. BEST training supports representative school team members to develop and implement
