EWP has received a grant from the Joint Fire Sciences Program (a collaboration between the US Department of Interior and Department of Agriculture) to study the economic effects of wildfires on local labor markets in places effected by large wildfires. The research will develop an economic model that demonstrates how large wildfires effect employment in local communities and investigate whether local communities benefit from fire suppression contracting.
