2006-07 EIC Annual Report
Frances thanked the committee for the work it had done last
year. She had an opportunity to address
the smoke-free campus recommendation with the President’s Small Executive Staff
(PSES) and as a result a task force has been created to continue work on this
issue. The President would like a report
back to the PSES by late winter or early spring term. The report will also be vetted with the
Faculty Advisory Council, the University Senate, students and others before a
final decision by the end of spring term 2008.
Climate Action Plan
For the coming year, Frances asked
the EIC to work with Steve Mital to develop a Climate Action Plan (CAP) for the
UO. She hopes that a draft will be ready
for her review by June 2008. The CAP
will be used to provide university administrators with recommendations on ways to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Josh Skov, lead author of
the OUS Greenhouse Gas Emission report, provided a power point presentation and
discussion. The full report can be downloaded:

A discussion on university
planning for climate neutrality will be available via webcast on December 12th from
11:00 – 12:30 pm in the Knight Library, Studio A.
