2006-07 EIC Annual Report

Frances thanked the committee for the work it had done last year.  She had an opportunity to address the smoke-free campus recommendation with the President’s Small Executive Staff (PSES) and as a result a task force has been created to continue work on this issue.  The President would like a report back to the PSES by late winter or early spring term.  The report will also be vetted with the Faculty Advisory Council, the University Senate, students and others before a final decision by the end of spring term 2008.

 

Climate Action Plan

For the coming year, Frances asked the EIC to work with Steve Mital to develop a Climate Action Plan (CAP) for the UO.  She hopes that a draft will be ready for her review by June 2008.  The CAP will be used to provide university administrators with recommendations on ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

 

Josh Skov, lead author of the OUS Greenhouse Gas Emission report, provided a power point presentation and discussion. The full report can be downloaded:

A discussion on university planning for climate neutrality will be available via webcast on December 12th from 11:00 – 12:30 pm in the Knight Library, Studio A.
