Social planning, with a special focus on youth, families, education, and health; the influence of personal characteristics on decision making; research methods and data analysis.
Research Interests
Recent and on-going work includes extensive analyses of cohort variations in violent behavior, with special emphasis on understanding recent upswings in homicide and suicide among youth, both in the United States and cross-culturally; studying organizational influences on teacher satisfaction with survey data from Oregon and throughout the nation; development of measures of consumers' involvement in their own health care; analyzing the relationship of gender to educational practices and outcomes both in the United States and cross-culturally; examining the relationship of economic trends to changes in family life.

Specializing in land-use planning and transportation, housing needs assessment, and computer modeling, he is instrumental in developing and managing many of CPWs projects. Robert teaches Planning Analysis, Growth Management, Land Use Planning and various computer classes for PPPM. Robert has been responsible for the management of over 100 planning projects.

Email: smith@uoregon.eduMegan Smith, Director of the Resource Assistance for Rural Environments Program (RARE), focuses her efforts on assisting rural Oregon in addressing community development and natural resource issues. As Director of RARE, Megan is responsible for community and participant recruitment, training and the daily administration of the program. Her planning focus is on watershed management and the role of education and outreach in planning. Her teaching responsibilities include courses in Citizen Involvement (with Robert Choquette) and Watershed Planning.

Email: onhw@uoregon.eduAndré LeDuc is the Program Director for the Oregon Natural Hazards Workgroup, at the University of Oregon Community Service Center. LeDuc specializes in natural hazard mitigation, land-use, disaster resistance economies, environmental planning and policy, geographic information systems, and various issues surrounding technology development and utilization in planning and public policy. LeDuc's recent projects include providing technical assistance to communities mitigating natural hazards, and coordination of the Oregon Showcase State Initiative. Showcase State is
an initiative aimed at preventing injuries and deaths, protecting public and private property, and creating a disaster-ready statewide economy through public and private partnerships.André's recent projects include:

Email: lindaw@uoregon.eduLinda White has joined the staff of the Community Service Center as Office Coordinator, bringing with her a wealth of energy and knowledge. Her responsibilities include roviding clerical and administrative support for the students, faculty, and other staff involving travel reimbursements, payroll, event coordination, and miscellaneous tasks. She will be working full time to facilitate improved efficiency within the office.
Prior to joining us, Linda worked in Academic Affairs at the University of Oregon, providing support for Vice President Lorraine Davis. That experience, combined with a wide variety of skills, makes her a valuable addition to the CSC. We are excited to welcome Linda to the CSC.

Email: jdfoster@uoregon.eduJulie Foster serves as grants administrator for the Community Service Center (CSC). She is responsible for the financial record keeping for all CSC activities which includes managing grants from state and federal agencies as well as billing and accounting for grants with 30 RARE communities and six to eight CPW projects each year. Julie is responsible for developing, processing, and tracking paperwork on contracts, billings, expenditures, reimbursements, appointments and payroll as well as producing financial reports on a quarterly basis.

As a generalist, her interests range from environmental stewardship, to youth involvement in planning, to outreach and education. Past experiences include working for both not-for-profit agencies and private planning firms. She received her master's degree in Environmental Psychology with from Cornell University.
